• Time of day and where you were accessing Online@UT (from home, dorm, Library)

Online@UT sites may require that your browser be enabled with specific browser plug-ins. Here you will find links to download all the plug-ins that Blackboard recommends you have installed on your system. Visit the Suggested Plug-ins for Online@UT Page.

AOL users may experience problems connecting to Online@UT. Instead of using the AOL browser, please do the following:

1. Log in to AOL as you normally would
2. Minimize the AOL browser window
3. Launch either Internet Explorer or Netscape separate from AOL
4. Connect to http://online.utk.edu
5. Login using your NetID and password

Downloading refers to the method by which you access digital information from Online@UT and save it to your computer's hard drive. Learn how to download and save files from Online@UT now.

All UT students, faculty, and staff are provided with a free UNIX account that includes 50 megabytes of storage space. The quota can be raised to 100 megabytes for an annual fee of $25. To setup your web space, you must:

1. To apply for a UNIX account, contact the HelpDesk
2. Manage your account through Volspace

If you have additional questions regarding your VolSpace account, please contact the student Help Desk at (865)974-9900.

• Surveys: all responses are anonymous -- your instructor can see the overall responses but cannot link one response to one student. Your instructor might survey the class:
  • To gather information about student preparedness
  • To gather information that is too sensitive for open class discussion
  • To identify areas where course content will have to be enhanced
• Quizzes: your instructor has the following types of questions available:
  • Multiple choice
  • True / false
  • Ordering
  • Short answer
  • Sequencing
• Issues in taking quizzes successfully:
  • Is the instructor allowing multiple attempts?
  • If you exit the quiz before submitting or completing, you might be locked out
  • Resetting student quizzes is labor intensive for the instructor
  • If you take too long on the quiz, you might be timed out by the computer
• Tips and tricks for successful quiz-taking:
  • Prepare
  • Study
  • Take notes
  • Leave enough time
  • Then log in and take your quiz
  • Don't wait till the last minute!
