Creating an Announcement

An announcement might include a welcome statement, changes in your class syllabus, or informing your students that new material has been added to the course.

Create and Post an Announcement

  1. Log in to the Blackboard Course Management System using your NetID and Password
  2. From the My Institution tab, locate and click on your course link where you would like to create an announcement
  3. Click the Control Panel button
  4. Select Announcements found in the Course Tools module
  5. Click the Add Announcement button
  6. Announcement Information
      Type a subject in the field provided
      Type your message in the field provided
  7. Options
    • Permanent announcement?
      Allows you to make the announcement permanent or not
    • Choose Date Restrictions
      Use the date range fields to specify the time range in which the announcement
      will appear in the student view
  8. Course Link
    • If you wish to add a direct link to an area within your course, clicking Browse
      allows you to access the Course Map where you can create a Course Link to the area
  9. Email Announcement
    By checking this box you have the option to email this announcement to all course user
  10. Click on Submit
  11. Click on OK to clear the receipt screen and return to the Control Panel
